SCOPE OF THE JOB
The Commercial
Procurement Director plays a fundamental leadership role within Mike Sport,
ensuring the company’s procurement activities are strategically aligned with
overall business objectives. This position is charged with driving both
financial performance and operational excellence through meticulous management
of buying budgets, commercial calendars, and inventory.
He/She will also
contribute to upholding the commitment to delivering an outstanding customer
experience in the dynamic sports retail industry by ensuring product
availability, trend alignment, and quality standards are consistently met.
This supports initiatives that provide a seamless retail experience,
reinforcing the brand’s reputation and customer loyalty.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic
Procurement & Sourcing
Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement
strategy aligned with overall company goals, covering product selection,
buying, wholesale distribution, and logistics
Lead the selection and sourcing process for new product
introductions, negotiate supplier contracts, and manage product assortment
strategies to maximize sales and profitability
Oversee category management across Sportswear,
Footwear, Equipment, and Accessories, optimizing supplier performance, cost
structures, and quality standards
Design and deploy advanced planning tools to support
the commercial team in buying decisions and in-season stock monitoring
Conduct business travel as necessary to evaluate new
collections, engage in supplier meetings, and oversee the brand’s buying and
selection processes
Commercial
Management
Lead commercial negotiations to secure optimal pricing,
terms, and exclusivity, maximizing supplier value and brand positioning
Direct the growth and expansion of brands through
data-driven market commercial analysis and actionable strategies
Develop and execute action plans focused on maximizing
profitability via pricing strategies, markdowns, promotions, and clearance
sales
Manage relationships with wholesale partners to
optimize pricing, inventory turnover, and accurate sales forecasting
Oversee procurement data processes to ensure production
of timely, accurate, and actionable information for decision-making
Collaborate with logistics teams to streamline supply
chain operations, improving transportation, warehousing, and inventory
management
Continuously perform market and competitive analyses to
identify new trends, risks, and growth opportunities within the sports retail
industry
Operational
Efficiency & Compliance
Proactively identify risks and opportunities to
maximize sales, profitability, and inventory turnover targets
Drive end-to-end procurement workflows, including
sourcing, negotiation, purchase order management, and supplier performance
evaluation
Ensure strict compliance with local and international
trade laws, quality standards, and corporate governance policies
Implement and optimize procurement systems and tools to
improve data accuracy, reporting capabilities, and supply chain visibility
Build and maintain Strong supplier relationships
focused on meeting quality standards, ethical sourcing, and contractual
compliance
Reporting &
Analysis
Collaborate with senior management to create annual
buying budgets that align with overall business objectives and revenue
targets
Collaborate with senior management to develop and

target Provide regular, detailed reports on procurement
performance, budget adherence, and key achievements
Analyze historical and real-time data to ensure optimal
budget allocation and balanced stock levels across channels
Monitor product performance indicators including
inventory status, stock movement, sell-through rates, sales per square meter,
and gross margin
Evaluate profitability of brands and product categories
through KPIs, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
Formulate and implement strategies to accelerate
sellouts, including promotional pricing, targeted marketing, and
cross-selling initiatives that enhance consumer engagement
Cross-Functional
Collaboration
Partner with
Marketing, Sales, Finance, and other departments to align procurement
strategies with overall business plans and objectives
Synchronize
procurement and marketing initiatives to ensure timely product availability
and promotions during key retail periods
Team Leadership
& Development
Recruit, train,
motivate, and evaluate team members to maintain a skilled, proactive commercial
department
Foster a
high-performance culture emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and
continuous improvement
Set clear KPIs,
regularly review team performance, and align efforts with strategic goals
Promote synergy and
effective communication among internal units including Selection and Buying,
Wholesale, Back Office, and Logistics teams

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree
in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field;
Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM)
preferred
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in
procurement management, preferably within a Sports Retail & Fashion
industry
Linguistic Skills: Excellent verbal and written
English, Arabic & French communication skills, with the capacity to
influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Computer Skills:
Extensive knowledge in Ms. Office. Familiarity with ERP systems, and data analysis tools
Desired Qualifications:
Extensive experience in procurement and commercial leadership, preferably within retail sports or apparel sectors.
Proven expertise in strategic financial planning with
mastery of budget management and deep commercial insights.
Demonstrated proactive leadership, skilled in driving
operational excellence and influencing cross-functional teams.
Track record of successfully optimizing stock levels,
enhancing sellout rates, and minimizing end-of-season overstocks.
Strong communicator and collaborator, adept at uniting
diverse teams around shared business objectives.
Commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and
agility in fast-paced retail environments.
Educational background in Supply Chain Management,
Business Administration, or related fields; advanced degrees preferred.
Proficient in procurement technologies and data
analysis to support informed decision-making.
